I live with my family in Colorado, high and dry at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Bears, mountain lions, deer, raccoons, squirrels, and skunks regularly roam through my garden. I try to stay clear of them, especially skunks.

Apart from the blog posts on this site, I write humorous mystery fiction as M. K. Mattias. If you like that kind of thing you can visit my  eponymous website (and you do know what eponymous means, don’t you?): http://www.mkmattias.com. My cozy mystery Spitting Image is available as a paperback and a Kindle book.

I also write other kinds of fiction under a different name.  You can contact me by email: mkmattias (at) yahoo (dot) com

  1. I can’t wait to read your novel. Will you have a book signing event??? Your post about nonsense literature strikes so close to home. As a child, I was read to by my favorite aunt. She read all sorts of fables to me, but mostly about animals. There were squirrels, foxes, bears, badgers and others. All were anthropomorphised – performing human tasks, and speaking in human tongues. All this “nonsense” only helped my imagination to blossom. And that was the best part of being a kid. I loved silly limericks, and to this day I make them up in my mind whenever I feel like it. Here is one I found somewhere: There once was a guy named Matt
Who had an overly large cat
    When it chased a mouse
    It shook the whole house
So Matt got rid of the DOG!

…and of course I had to change the last word!
